"Sturm und Drang" is German for "Storm and Stress" which was first known as a literary movement during the late 18th century. The name of the movement came from one of Friedrich Maximilian Klinger's plays on the
American Revolution.

As a musical term, the style encourages a strong expression towards nature, emotion, and individualism. The music tends to mimic the intensity of a storm. A kind of rebellious sound can also be observed from the style.
