In Greek mythology, the NEREIDS are sea nymphs (female spirits of sea waters), the 50 daughters of Nereus and Doris, sister to Nerites. They often accompany Poseidon, the god of the sea, and can be friendly and helpful to sailors. They symbolized everything that is beautiful and kind about sea.
TRITONS were a race of sea gods and goddesses born from Triton. Triton lived with his parents, Poseidon and Amphitrite, in a golden palace on the bottom of the sea. Unlike their ancestor Poseidon, Triton's lower half is that of a fish, while the top half is presented in a human figure.
