though there is actually a high number of rags out there, this genre is "tiny" because it is simply very formulaic. the restrictions on rhythm, instrumentation, and song structure (they were meant to be danced to) makes them all fairly similar.
*Please note the racist title of Debussy's "Golliwog Waltz"- though the genre was invented by a black composer, ragtime emerged during a peak of white racism, and the genre has many stereotypes and slurs included in its titles.
