Like he’d learned in his season on the island, it seemed that there was always something to come in at the last minute and save you.  No one was ever really lost.  Hadn’t he secretly known that all along?       

He wasn’t frightened.  He knew she’d come back for him.  She always had and he suspected that she would for as long as he could stay.
