When a hot-headed young L.A. racer comes to a small Californian town to elope with his sculptress girlfriend, it serves to draw an old-timer drag racer back into the sport. After a late-night race that almost ends in their fiery deaths, they become friends but decide to compete in a local championship. The rivals-turned-allies must also contend with a corrupt town boss, whose daughter is secretly dating the brash newcomer, and a nasty sheriff that tries to ensure that his own son wins the drag race....
