heaven is also so perfect, "cursed from the start" and "built to fall apart" are VIBING and "our love is pushing out and pulling in" and i would probably say more about heaven were it not followed by NIGHTMARE, THE MOST PERFECT, THE ONE THAT HAD TO BE HERE, THAT I KNEW WOULD BE HERE, I HAVE NO WORDS, but "but for now, stay here in my nightmare, baby, hold me as the world falls down" is the PERFECT capsule of both OOTW and DWOHT god, "we both know it will be over soon" and "maybe we will learn from it or maybe we'll learn nothing at all" oh and also "they carry on in a song" THE MOST TAYLOR GOD. right okay. you are a cruel delight who follows this up with HARD FEELINGS/LOVELESS BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME AND LOVE TO FUCK ME UP. GOD. PERFECTION. a song so built around remembering and the "i remember"s, just as OOTW is, and the "(go back and tell it)" at the start is just Too taylor, "when the sweet words and fevers all leave us right here in the cold" and idk even how to explain it but "please could you be tender? and i will sit close to you / let's give it a minute before we admit that we're through" is really just. On it. god and ofc "how we'd drift buying groceries, how you'd dance for me" is so with it on the vibe here both with the obvious reference to dancing but also with the memories of simple domestic moments that become tinged with this heartache that feels like holding too much air in your lungs. (or also "now we sit in your car and your love is a ghost / well i guess i should go / yeah i guess i should go" both bc it's on point and also for the car reference, i told you i'm beating this into the ground). and OFC the loveless part is so perfect too, it's so very 1989 (lmao @ my melodrama project someday one day maybe gdi) but especially, here, what is also imo the core line of the loveless part, "(look out, lovers)". yeah it's a vibe. okay and then ending THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN END, DANCING WITH OUR HANDS TIED, we've talked about these two songs re each other before ofc but still god it's so perfect it's too perfect, it's practically a part 2 of OOTW, except: OOTW is a relationship that was built to fall apart; DWOHT is a relationship that desperately should be forever but the world might destroy, and you're desperately afraid that even the most perfect shining thing can't survive the world can't survive your world, that nothing ever could not even this. "you are my sweetest downfall" ofc but even Moreso "beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth / i have to go, i have to go" in ways i can't quite verbalize? god and "they're just old light" ofc and "and he kissed me 'til the morning light" and "oh, we couldn't bring the columns down" and just GOD the whole thing, all of it. baby, like we stood a chance. just, god. okay and then TERRIBLE LOVE, I MEAN I KNEW IT WAS ON HERE WE TALKED ABOUT IT ALMOST A YEAR AGO BUT STILL IT'S TOO PERFECT. "but then i saw your shivered bones / they didn't want me too" is same energy as "but the monsters turned out to be just trees / when the sun came up, you were looking at me" and I DON'T KNOW WHY OR AT LEAST HOW TO SAY WHY BUT IT'S THE FACTS JACK. and god "it takes a while to settle down / my shivered bones / until the panic's out" just christ. and the alternate version is perfect choice the sound vibes so well with OOTW and 1989. also ofc rabbit hole and wonderland, but also rabbit holes and the woods, i won't follow you into the rabbit hole, when you started crying baby i did too, i'm just quoting lyrics without rhyme or reason now but it's a VIBE it's REAL. also wow now i'm thinking about how much terrible love can be seen throughout the album, "it takes an ocean not to break" with this love and clean and "i won't follow you in to the rabbit hole" with wonderland but also with all you had to do was stay and the panic and anxiety of it with i know places and, but especially, it's a terrible love and i'm walking with spiders, are we out of the woods yet, yeah it's perfect. next comment.

AHHHHH THIS IS SO GOOD AND PERFECT AS I KNEW IT WOULD BE BUT STILL. GAHH. god. obvi i love the lorde inner bookends, especially how they both speak to like two different ends of the spectrum of what OOTW is about and represents and the relationship it depicts. a world alone is so on point - i knew it was gonna be in here, can't remember if we discussed it or if i just Knew but - it really speaks to that "the rest of the world was black and white / but we were in screaming color" vibe and obv the "to move the furniture so we could dance / baby, like we stood a chance" aspect, what with the whole song but esp "we're dancing in a world alone", and god the endless repetition of "people are talking" re: the frenetic anxious paranoid (except it's not paranoid if they're really out to get you!) repetition of "are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet?", and, OF COURSE, "i know we're not everlasting / we're a trainwreck waiting to happen" which is just the Word on OOTW, built to fall apart, baby like we stood a chance, hit the brakes too soon (now i'm cackling thinking "WE'RE A SNOWMOBILE WRECK WAITING TO HAPPEN" whoops) but yes damn, god, a perfect start. and then CONTINUING THE STREAK (the whole mix is the streak) with shark in the water, aka SPEAKING OF PARANOIA AND ANXIETY AND SEEING MONSTERS IN THE DARK WHERE THERE ARE JUST TREES, heart stammering with panic even when it all looks fine because you just Know, this is the first place i started thinking about dancing with our hands tied btw (because I KNEW WHERE THIS WAS GOING THERE WAS ONLY EVER ONE PLACE THIS ROAD COULD LEAD) (also now ofc it also immediately makes me think of the archer) (also i almost called it taylor swift's relationship crisis spidey sense and now my brain is playing a full on montage of taylor as spiderman and it's absolutely fantastic thank you very much) OKAY MOVING ON, million reasons why, also perfect, a million reasons this isn't going to work that this shouldn't go any further to walk out and say 'i'm setting you free' because maybe they're all trees but maybe they're all monsters and does it really matter which it is when it's all you can see in every shadow? and "we were built to fall apart / then fall back together" ofc is the vibe. okay *the story of us voice* next comment
