Soul music claims roots in gospel and R&B music and emerged in the mid to late 1950's in America. The soul movement flourished under Berry Gordy's Tamla Records, formed in the late 1950's in "Motor Town" Detroit, Michigan. Soul music grew and peaked in popularity in the 1960's, deemed the "golden age" of the soul movement. This mix showcases 12 soulful tunes from the golden age, spanning from 1960-1970.
