Notes
In 2017, tensions in Venezuela reached a peak as many were unhappy with President Nicolás Maduro. Many civilians fear that Maduro is consolidating power within his government as an effort to move more towards a dictatorship. Other countries have already gone as far as to say Maduro is in fact a dictator. Democratic elections and opposition leaders have been silenced and ignored by the government headed by Maduro. This lack of dialogue has lead to civil unrest and protest all across the country as tensions continue to increase between the Maduro government and the citizens of Venezuela.
