Notes
Ride the crest of a high and beautiful wave. In the 1980s pop ruled supreme. Michael Jackson owned the charts. Rock was attending its own funeral. And then, a frantic, high-tension wire act came following through after the crest of the punk rock movement of the '70s passed. All was going to be okay precisely because nothing was going to be okay.

This is the sound of the 1980s music underground, the stuff that college radio stations with five listeners blasted at max volume. In an era when music was rife with synthesizers and hair spray and the heroes of a previous generation had grown fat, lazy and complacent, these bands showed up with an upturned fist and a three chords. That was all they would need.
