Oh, and yes, the Four Tet remix of Melody Day has to be one of my favorites of all time. Seriously. It is that good. The beauty of that song really helped me make it through the year, and still brings balm to my soul in hard times.
Thanx, Beth. Helen was a dear friend who was killed early in 2007 — well, come to think of it the song says it all. The "Emma Goldman" performance was from her funeral here in New Orleans, a song written by her husband that took on a new meaning in those circumstances. And if you listen to the very end you'll hear a rather angry speech by yours truly given a few days after her death.
