nine classic showa era themed tracks, all featured in the brilliantly bizarre and cult favourite novel "popular hits of the showa era" by ryu murakami. each chapter of the book is titled after a particular song and all the extra information is in the notes. a highly recommended read.

I was about to put together the exact same mix when it occurred to me to make sure someone hadn't done it first, and sure enough here it is! (Great minds think alike, of course.) I'm glad I'd barely gotten started, it much more enjoyable without having to spend all that time hunting for the songs myself. Just like I thought, it turned out to be a great mix!

@redrangerk i did exactly the same thing before i started putting it together too! half way through i wish i hadn't started though as some of the songs were really hard to find in good quality (but i'm quite fond of the slight disturbance/noise in the background so it doesn't bother me too much). after i finished reading the book i immediately thought "i need to hear all these songs in one place!" glad you enjoyed it too!
