The US is (generally) pro-Israel. The government has stood behind the country since its founding; therefore, it shouldn't be surprising that our media generally presents a skewed stance on the matter. From what I understand, the land that is now Israel was taken from Palestine after WWII as the UN's "sorry for the Holocaust" gift to the Jews. For my US friends who need some perspective, an old history teacher once explained it the best: Imagine the UN took California and gave it to the Native Americans, who were there long before the first frontiersman ever set eyes on the land, without the full permission from the people of California. Do you think Americans would accept that quietly?
