Our backyard was famed. Everyone liked to hang out there, just because of all the room. Here’s an almost-complete list of everyone who ever came over just to hang in the backyard (and/or use its facilities): Nicole Caringella and Debbie Tamburrino, the Rotella’s, Adelle DeLeo, Beth Pelikan, Karl Maschek, the Anelli’s, Chris Asta, James Tacito, Brad Spicer, Pete Mordini, Stephen Johnson, Sean Loden, Mike Surmin, Emily Plummer, Tom Plummer, Maria Frances (and of course Danny), Kerrie Brayton, Kim Parry, Chris Lynch, and last but by no means least, Margaret Hendricksen.

From the delusional fantasy department, there was the ‘64 Chevy Impala in the garage. This baby would have been the envy of any car fanatic, had we ever gotten around to fixing it up. Fire engine red, black convertible top, rebuilt engine, mag wheels -- this baby had it all. Only a few problems though, like all the dents and scratches (a garage fell on it), the ripped leather... to sum it up, it needed a lot of work. But we spent many a weekend in there, removing doors, working on the engine, we actually had it running, and we even were able to make the top go up and down until the money ran out.

I remember the first time I brought my one-and-only girlfriend, Julie, home. She didn’t get along well with my brother and sister -- being the youngest in her own family, she wasn’t used to listening to whining yelling kids -- so she bribed them to shut up; she gave my sister a whole bunch of candy so she wouldn’t talk anymore. Needless to say, my sister wasn’t too thrilled about that, and to this day she still hates poor old Julie.
