she rifles through her memories, trying to place where those imploring brown eyes came from but her mind is weighed down with a heavy blanket of fog. she wants to ask him, yet can't quite seem to find the words nor strength to do so. instead, she squeezes his hand a fraction harder and hopes he understands. he returns the gesture and tells her he loves her and that it's okay to be scared because he is too and he's sure dad will get here as soon as he can. she doesn't understand, but trusts him all the same.
