Commentary by track number:
1. I wanted to kick of this remix with something patriotic, bumpin’, and ridiculous. I looked for a trap remix of America the Beautiful and this is as close as I got.
2. The first of several songs on this playlist Miss “Caution: Prone to burst into song” repeatedly sang the chorus of over and over. At first I was like, "What the world awfulness are you singing?”, and then I found out who sang it and saw the video and I was onboard after that.
3. En route to an Uber Michaela was singing this, I also showed her around the National Gallery of art so it’s thematically appropriate.
4. Since I dressed up as a character from Orphan Black, I showed Michaela the first few episodes and this song features prominently in Episode 1 as Sarah assumes a new identity. “You’re damn right.”
5. At first when Michaela made “Deez nuts” jokes I said in the most deadpan voice, “You are 12 years old.” Then she showed me the Vines and I couldn’t help but laugh. I liked this autotune song she used on one of her BeyonceAlwaysonBeat clips.
6. Unfortunately, there is no studio recording of Michaela’s street crossing “Wait” rap, which she composed with the help of the voice on the ‘push button to cross’ pole.This song seemed like an appropriate stand-in.
7. This playlist needed a trap version of the James Bond theme, because cat-burglary needs a backing track.
8. When we were walking around the National Mall area there was a guy on a motorcycle at a stop light blasting this, it put us in a good mood at the time.

16. We sat in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum for a hot minute while Michaela charged her phone. Right in our line of sight was a bronze statue of an early human ancestor crouching. She posted a ridiculous photo of it on Snap Chat, which is where the eagle from the cover of this mix comes from. The eagle was saying, “I found you, Miss New Booty.” While we were sitting there, at one point a teenage boy came by and nonchalantly slapped the statue right on the bum. The best part was no one saw him do it but us, it was like his own private moment we happened to see.

18. For some reason I can’t find an actual full Nicki Minaj version of this song so I’ll just use this one from an Orphan Crack video I am currently obsessed with.

21. At Busboys and Poets we were glancing at the drinks menu discussing the merits of Mocato and I randomly started singing this song because it includes the word Moscato.
