Two protagonists, both warlocks born in the golden age of Spain. The story goes back and forth between their childhood, and present day New York where one of them has turned to evil and dark magic because he thought the other was killed by a rival warlock when she disappeared before they were supposed to get married. When his love interest resurfaces, she must bring him back from the edge, while facing the person he blames for her death and figuring out why her powers are weaker than they were before she was thought to be killed.
