The false king turned his desperate attention to the queen of the Underworld, hopeful that she would beg kindness to her husband, hopeful that Hades' peasant-like judgement could be amended. Persephone's dark eyebrow rose in challenge. "If you look for leniency false king you will find none with me," she spoke, "for where my husband has been just, I will be vengeance. Countless nights of your lifetime have I heard your wife and daughters pray to me for the crimes you waged against their bodies and their minds. They beg me for curses upon you and your heirs; they demand retribution. I am their goddess. And so do not look to me for kindness. Unlike my husband, I look to destroy all the light in your eyes."
