In the early 1980s the nuclear crisis provoked by the NATO Double Track Decision led to massive protests by the peace movement, especially in West-Germany where 1.3 million people rallying against stationeering Pershing II missiles on October 22, 1983.
Nonetheless there were some catchy Neue Deutsche Welle songs accompanying these events and years like a kind of a soundtrack, and even artist Joseph Beuys was singing for the Green Party looking for the "Sun instead of R(e)a(ga)in".
