Notes
In light of the swampy blues, biologists wading through the muddy southern bayous discovered the Mangrove Killifish aka “Kryptolebias Marmoratus” which can live out of water for some sixty days straight, breathing air through its skin. During the dry season when the puddles disappear, it forceful tail-flip gives it the ability to propel itself out of the water and onto land then climb the nearest tree or rotting log. Once the rainy season arrives again, it alters its gills, and does a nose dive back into the water. Being that high and dry, one would think finding a mating partner to reproduce would be somewhat limiting, but not so as it’s the only known hermaphrodite vertebrate that is self-fertilizing. Now that’s one hell of a fish story. Thanks for coming by…enjoy the music!
