“Charley Horse”..that sure is a weird name for that involuntary and most dreaded nocturnal leg cramp. Some say its origin was arrived from a lame horse named Charley which lugged things around at a Chattanooga baseball park back in the late 1800’s. Others make reference to a baseball player named Charley “Old Hoss” Radbourne who often suffered with leg cramps during games. Whatever, these leg muscle spasms are very painful however in most cases is harmless. Some link dehydration, nutrient deficiencies & some medications as being contributors.
