The “All Hallow's Evening”' of many eons ago, known today as Halloween sure had a different purpose of celebration. Some believe the act of trick or treating or “guising” evolved through Celtic traditions with folks placing out food for the spirits in the streets during Samhain. Further opinions hold the roots of Halloween as being Christian, where the trick or treating referred to as “souling,” was the act of folks going from house to house offering prayer for the departed in turn for a piece of cake.
