"One puts all nature into mourning,
One lights her like a flaring sun —
What whispers "Burial" to the one
Cries to the other, "Life and Morning."
The unknown Hermes who assists
The role of Midas to reverse,
And makes me by a subtle curse
The saddest of all alchemists —
By him, my paradise to hell,
And gold to slag, is changed too well.
The clouds are winding-sheets, and I,
Bidding some dear-loved corpse farewell,
Along the shore-line of the sky,
Erect my vast sarcophagi."

I am Jared. My tastes can be considered eclectic and varied, though I tend to listen to music that's either very experimental in nature, has excellent musicianship and complex structures, or is simple/minimalistic yet very effective at evoking emotion (without being overly derivative). I also tend to prefer music that is relatively dark; either bittersweet, melancholy, depressing, resigned, contemplative, haunting, fierce, aggressive, empowering, full of rage, or any combination of the above.

As such, I'm a big metal fan (leaning towards extreme genres like death and black metal), but I'm also a fan of a lot of acoustic music, experimental/progressive rock, jazz, classical, folk music, certain types of electronic music, and some indie music. However, I’m willing to listen to anything from any genre as long as it has passion and gets its point across effectively.

I abhor any kind of music that is overly repetitive--unless said repetition is to elicit a certain mood or create an atmosphere--and I despise all music that is uninspired and uses the ever-so-stupidly-popular I-V-vi-IV 4-chord progression and A-B-A-B-C-B song structure found in almost every single radio-pop song. I don't mind if other people enjoy that, but the composition of such music is too obvious to me and makes me feel nothing.

If you plan on following me, I plan on making a few playlists that should be quite dark--some calm and quiet, and others very loud with a lot of aggressive heavy metal involved.
