Wild Women Don't Get the Blues

Notes

bluesy babes get down

from the Mississippi Delta to the ballrooms of Harlem - a collection of Black female blues artists. Signature recordings by vocalists, songwriters, travelers, rogues, and revolutionaries that traverse gospel, jazz, soul, and traditional balladry.

from the queens like Bessie Smith, to lesser known figures like Alberta Hunter (with a few contemporary wave-makers mixed in), these women span the years, as far back as 1923, to as recent as 1970.
