We usually associate brass instruments with jazz but actually they are some of the oldest instruments. Trumpets have been around since ancient times, the trombone(sackbut) and the horn since the Renaissance. They are not that popular among composers as solo instruments as are strings and woodwinds but there is some great music written for them. Here are some concertos for brass instruments. I have also included come pieces written for other instruments, but played on brass.
