For my mix tape, I focused on the underground and punk rock scene at CBGB in the 1970s. I incorporated prefacing sound clips and songs that I felt embodied the scene, performed by essential artists. The scene focused on returning to rock and roll music outside of the mainstream and a feeling of anti-sociability and dissociation from society, connecting this scene to the Beat scene in the West Village in the 1950s. Though the musicians at CBGB & UMFUG in the 1970s felt disconnected from the world around them, they found community and a home at the dirty club on the Bowery.
