Unwound is an awesome post-hardcore/noise-rock/math-rock band. The tracks I used are from their swan song double last album, which I think of as something of a masterpiece.

Those Mushroom tracks are much darker than their normal material, but they’re an awesome "diverse and eclectic blend of jazz, space rock, R&B, electronic, ambient, Krautrock and folk music" (quote from Wikipedia). Probably my favorite head-music-jam-band, and they have tons of records. Their main member (Pat Thomas) is a fucking walking encyclopedia of amazing music, and he just wrote a book/compiled a record called “Listen, Whitey! The Sights and Sounds of Black Power 1965-1975.”

Nomo is an amazing “post-afro-beat explosion” (their words), and they’re AWESOME live. I recommend all their albums.
