Notes
As musical trends changed in rock and pop music in the late 60s, the tide was turning in R&B as well, Sly and the Family Stone combined psychedelic rock with soul music for a groundbreaking new sound, as did Motown producer Norman Whitfield and others. The new sub-genre helped pave the way for modern funk and even disco. Here is a fine sampling of some of the greatest psychedelic soul tracks ever recorded.
