1997 Pretty Thirty-One

Notes

In 1976, BBC Radio One Icon John Peel created a music chart called the Festive Fifty. From 1982 the chart only consisted of the year’s top tracks chosen by the listeners. It would traditionally broadcast over Christmas Eve and Day.

In November 1997, Peel announced that there would be no Festive Fifty chart that year. Then changed his mind and got his team to organise a reduced chart of 31 places - named the "Pretty 31". The album cover is an untitled photograph (1997) by Hannah Starkey.
