Western Education formed in the spring of 2011 after lead singer Greg covered the UMass Lowell campus with flyers looking for like-minded musicians.

Will (bass) and Georgio (guitar) responded and the demo process was on. Not satisfied with the electronic drums on earlier recordings, they searched for a drummer. The band was solidified when Mark joined in early 2012.

Western Education strives to breathe new life into pop music by creating exciting anthems with big choruses and even bigger hooks.
Their sound is best described as a modern indie-dance blend of The Killers, Interpol, and Muse, with highly ambitious arrangements and smart lyrical content. In March of 2012, they released a self-titled EP, followed by The Weekend Sessions EP in December of that year.

In 2013, the band was selected as one of the Boston Phoenix’s Top 13 Best New Bands. The year closed with the release of "Rivals," the lead single off their debut album. In 2014, the band participated in the 35th annual Rock 'n' Roll Rumble, a yearly Boston music festival and competition, in which they finished as semi-finalists. The band’s full-length debut album, “Let Your Secrets Out,” was released on July 8th, 2014.

Currently, Western Education is working on new material. They have plans to tour during the spring/summer of 2015.
