Every school has the kid that died; or the kids. A select few have that unfortunate plural; the larger schools, the ones in less affluent areas, the ones that are just spectacularly unlucky. But there’s always at least one; one kid who runs out in front of a car, one kid who’s sitting in the back of the car at the top of the pileup on the motorway, one kid who takes death into their own hands.
