Released 50 years ago this month, King Crimson’s debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King, kicks off with what is widely acknowledged to be one of the most influential prophetic-sounding slabs of classic rock poetry to emerge from that infamous decade. Now, 19 years into the referenced century, we are learning to our sorrow just how accurate the oracular psychiatric diagnoses offered by “21st Century Schizoid Man” truly are.

With that in mind, Wub-fur offers this possibly somewhat disjointed mix of 19 contemporary post-punk/indie/alternative rock songs featuring inconsistent and/or contradictory contributions from Metz, Flat Worms, Mannequin Pussy, and 16 more bands who we’e pretty sure do not suffer from schizoid personality disorder.
