Another in the series "Celebrating Vinyl" where I took a look at artists who released music before the compact disc. Now we look at Elektra, founded in 1950, which originally leaned quite heavily toward folk-rock. As the 70's came along the roster expanded to include rock and pop artists. Once the label merged with Asylum records and became known as Elektra/Asylum the roster of artists greatly expanded including country-rock, country, heavy metal, and later R 'n' B. Enjoy this look at a fine American music label.
