When the precursor's finally re-assemble the portal, they relocate its entry to that of the inside of a massive underwater volcano. Each new kaiju is given a tough hide, capable of resisting the extreme heat of the volcano upon arrival.

As the humans face new and more terrifying threats than the events from nearly a decade before, they find that they too must adapt. Or they will perish.
